When the car seat is hooked in, and your baby is belted in the seat, you should examine the seat to be sure that it is correctly secured.Your baby will be kept quite cozy in their car seat, but you should not leave them in their car seat for extended periods. If you will be taking a long car trip, allow time to pull over and let your baby have a break from the car seat periodically.Although it is not recommended, a number of parents will step out of the vehicle and allow their child to remain in their car seat, in the car. Prolonged periods of time spent in a reclined position in their car seat, can result in breathing problems for premature infants.Infants with a gastric reflux condition, will be prone to vomiting when sitting in this position. The point is, that no infant, whether they have a health condition or not, should be allowed to remain in their baby car seat or buggy for more time than is absolutely necessary.You should avoid using your baby’s car seat for them to sleep in, if there is a crib or pram that could be used instead.A nap of several hours in the baby car seat will not harm your healthy infant. You should, however, avoid leaving your infant in their car seat for prolonged periods of time.
